FORMER contestant on The Voice and recent oleh Ben Goldstein has made waves in Israel, appearing on the Jewish State’s version of X Factor to tremendous applause.

The budding star, who made aliyah two weeks before his audition, made it to the next round of the contest after wowing the judges with his version of Maroon 5’s 2002 smash hit This Love.

During his audition, Goldstein explained to the audience that while his career was starting to take off in Australia, living in Israel was his “dream”.

“I released my own album, I was actually doing really well in Australia with music,” Goldstein said on the show. “But there was this feeling, there was something different here that I had to experience.”

While the former Sydneysider had made it the top 24 of The Voice Australia in 2013, his dreams of record deals and celebrity stardom may come true in the Holy Land after all four judges on the X Factor personally thanked him for “coming to Israel” and pegged him as a favourite to win.

“You have a unique voice, you have something special, you have the X Factor,” enthused Israeli pop singer-songwriter Moshe Peretz.

Meanwhile, Melbourne local Elliot Freeman turned heads but unfortunately no chairs on The Voice Australia’s blind auditions on Sunday night with his rendition of Jason Mraz’s I’m Yours.

The doctor took time out of his busy schedule to prepare for the blind auditions and maintained his positive attitude throughout the process, even after being rejected by the world-renowned judges.

“I went into the competition thinking it was a win-win either way,” Freeman explained.

“If I got through it would’ve been brilliant and an exciting competition but at the same time, I work pretty hard as a doctor and the fact I wasn’t forced to be committed to anything further was a bit of a relief.”

Despite newest addition to the judging panel British pop-star Jessie J describing Freeman’s singing as “out of time and flat”, he said the experience was “a lot of fun” and that he was proud of his performance.
