FOUR senior journalists who toured Israel as guests of the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies (JBOD) will report on their impressions at a public meeting next week.
Sydney Morning Herald opinion page editor Joel Gibson, Daily Telegraph director of news John Rolfe, SBS senior correspondent Brian Thomson and Sky News business channel manager Kylie Merritt spent five days on an intensive visit to Israel meeting with key identities in the security and political arenas as participants on the JBOD’s Journalists Mission.
The annual report-back of journalists who have participated on the trip has traditionally been included as a feature of JBOD’s February plenum, but in light of the overwhelming response by members of the community to last year’s event, it has been decided to hold a stand-alone event this year at a larger venue which will accommodate more guests and allow greater participation from the floor.
“This is a rare opportunity for members of the community not only to hear what these senior journalists have to say about their findings and impressions, but also to engage with them in a meaningful way,” JBOD chief executive officer Vic Alhadeff said.
The meeting will be held in the Saunders Hall, Central Synagogue, on Thursday, February 2, at 7.30pm.
