Laughs in a legal farce

LEADING playwright Tony Laumberg has drawn on a divorce, a mid-life crisis and a tax fraud to spice up his new stage comedy, Find Me a Lawyer! which premieres at Newtown Theatre on August 18.

The play marks the 11th collaboration between Laumberg, who is also the producer, and director Richard Cotter. The cast includes Valentino Arico, Trudi Boatwright, Mark McCann, Brigid O’Sullivan and Kath Perry.

The laughs in Find Me a Lawyer! are set around Marty Fish, who hatches a scheme to make a quickfire million dollars, but everything goes wrong and he finds himself in urgent need of a lawyer.

Laumberg, who lives in Bondi, has written several legal-themed farces, including Bondi Legal, Undercover Lawyer and Lawyers in Love.

This production marks Laumberg’s return to Newtown Theatre where his first two plays, Unsolicited Male and The Great Divide, were successfully performed.

Find Me a Lawyer! is being staged at the Newtown Theatre, corner King and Bray streets, Newtown, from August 18 to September 4. Bookings: www.newtowntheatre.com.au.
