JUNIOR race walker Jemima Montag has achieved more success at international level, playing an integral role in Australia’s junior team that won the bronze medal at last week’s IAAF World Race Walking Cup in China.

Montag, 16, placed 12th overall, but when combined with the eighth place of teammate Clara Smith, Australia’s total score was enough to finish third behind China and Spain.

Meanwhile, Montag’s younger sister Piper has excelled as captain of the Victorian under-13 girls’ team at the National Little Athletics Championships at Lakeside Stadium.

Piper came second in the shot put, fifth in the triple jump and seventh in the hurdles.

In other news, Steven Solomon has placed second in the 400m final of the Red Raider Open in Texas in a time of 45.65, finishing 0.23s behind Jamaican runner Omar Johnson.
