Tel Aviv: Sexy with a great bar
TEL Aviv has one of the sexiest neighbourhoods in the world and the best bar in Africa and the Middle East.
Gan Hahashmal in southern Tel Aviv has been named the second sexiest neighbourhood in the world, behind Ipanema in Brazil, according to a list compiled by Thrilllist.com.
It notes that Israel is “renowned for its gorgeous citizenry”, the population of Gan Hahashmal is “overwhelmingly single” and that the area has late-Ottoman-era houses, cutting-edge boutiques and a beautiful public garden.
And a city can’t be sexy unless it has great bars.
The Imperial Craft Cocktail Bar won the top bar award for Africa and the Middle East at the World’s 50 Best Bar Awards, organised by Drinks International Magazine, in London last week.
More than 330 industry experts participated in the awards to help pick the best bars from across the world.
The Artesian in London was named the best bar in the world, closely followed by The Dead Rabbit in New York.
The Baxter in Sydney was named the best bar in Australasia.
