$12,000 for Junior Carnival
MACCABI has received a $12,000 grant from the state government for its Junior Carnival event in Sydney next January.

The grant will mean Maccabi can keep the cost of participation down and increase involvement in the week-long sporting event, which also incorporates social activities for youth aged 12-16 from across Australia and New Zealand.
Maccabi NSW president Danny Hochberg told The AJN the health and wellbeing of young kids is “such an important aspect of Maccabi’s role, but more importantly, it’s the social connection that only Carnival can create”.
“It’s a real great opportunity for them to interact and make lifelong friends,” he said, adding that in addition to participating in sports that they have achieved a degree of expertise in or are tasting for the first time, there will be an “incredible array of social events” on offer.
“It’s a real opportunity for them to let their hair down and just enjoy themselves.”
Hochberg said Carnival also allows youth leaders to “participate and lead our kids”.
“It fulfils another aspect for us which is the training of our future leaders,” he said.
Member for Vaucluse and NSW Attorney-General Gabrielle Upton, who presented Hochberg with a cheque last week, told The AJN Carnival is “an important part of providing sporting and community to young people coming to participate and compete”.
“I was very proud along with the Premier to support it last time it was in Sydney, and here we go again,” she said.
