3000 reasons to say ‘Yes we can’

THE annual “Yes We Can” food drive was given a kick-start this year when NSW member for Vaucluse Gabrielle Upton announced a $3000 grant for the project. The drive, which is an annual multifaith campaign run by Jewish House and the Exodus Foundation, is asking customer at 25 Coles stores around NSW to leave a can of food in a collection box for the needy.

The drive, which is an annual multifaith campaign run by Jewish House and the Exodus Foundation, is asking customer at 25 Coles stores around NSW to leave a can of food in a collection box for the needy.

“We collected more than 6000 cans last year and we are excited to conduct this drive again this year before Rosh Hashanah,” Jewish House’s Rabbi Mendel Kastel said. “A person needs to feel that other people are thinking about them and this is one way that everyone can contribute to a really good cause.”

Upton said she was delighted to contribute $3000 to the campaign from the NSW Government’s Community Grants Program. The food boxes will be at stores in Bondi Junction, Rose Bay, Chatswood and 22 other locations.
