MACCABI FC Caulfield’s senior women’s side continued their stunning debut season in State League 1 South-East, defeating Monbulk Rangers SC 3-2 in front of a raucous home crowd at Caulfield Park on Sunday.

The performance saw Maccabi skyrocket to the top of the home and away table, and maintain their unbeaten status after three rounds.

Maccabi took an early advantage over the away side after Colombian superstar Camila Fresneda found the bottom left corner of the net.

Elise Martini and Alyssa Burdin looked dangerous in the forward half while defenders Charlotte Clements and Anna Duong denied Monbulk’s strikers time on the ball.

On the stroke of half-time, the hosts doubled their advantage when Ellie Kras connected sweetly with a stunning Genia Avram cross.

After the break Romy Sacks and Kras continued their strong defensive efforts, while midfielders Jeannie Susser and Mac Anderson dominated possession in the centre of the park.

Searching for the sealer, Maccabi began peppering the opposition’s goal and it paid dividends when Avram’s through-ball found the quick feet of Rebecca Rubenstein who made it 3-0.

There were a few nervy moments late for Maccabi as Monbulk slipped two past keeper Nicola Hajncl, but the hosts held on till the final whistle to claim top spot.

Maccabi’s reserves also got the better of Monbulk, recording a resounding 5-2 win.

Ricki Sher kicked off the goal-scoring spree with a magical left-foot strike, before Nat Court, Nat Gabriel, Hannah Shauer and Catalina Alarcon joined the party.
