Actor shines in drama series
ACTOR Richard Cawthorne has been nominated for an acting award for his role in the TV drama series Killing Time, which is based on lawyer Andrew Fraser’s life in the legal and criminal world.
The Jewish actor is in the running for the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) award for best guest or supporting actor in a TV drama for his role in Killing Time, which is currently screening on Foxtel’s TV1 channel.
Cawthorne, 35, has extensive acting experience, including in the films Razor Eaters and Who Wants to be a Terrorist and TV series Rush and City Homicide.
The AACTA Awards are being organised by the Australian Film Institute (AFI) to recognise Australian screen excellence, and are the continuation of the long-running AFI Awards.
They will be presented at a gala ceremony at the Sydney Opera House on January 31, 2012.
Killing Time is a 10-part series that follows the story of Fraser’s rise from small-time lawyer to handling high-profile cases, including those accused of Melbourne’s Walsh Street murders.
However, Fraser’s world came crashing down and he spent five years in a maximum security prison for drug smuggling. After his years behind bars, Fraser wrote his story that formed the basis of the TV series that stars David Wenham (Lord of the Rings and SeaChange).
Killing Time screens on TV1 on Wednesdays at 8.30pm.
