Ambassador casts his vote

Israel's ambassador to Australia Mark Sofer says it was an 'honour' to be among the first around the world to cast a vote in Israel's upcoming election.

ISRAELI election fever has made its way to Australia with early voting taking place in Canberra ahead of the September 17 ballot.

Israel’s ambassador to Australia Mark Sofer was among the first around the world to cast a vote last week.

“Always exciting to exercise the most important aspect of democracy – voting in an election,” Sofer tweeted.

“And to pre-empt any query, no – I will NOT tweet who I voted for.”
