Almost as much of a High Holy Day tradition as blowing the shofar, the winning entry becomes the newspaper’s official new year card, sent to a host of VIPs both locally and overseas, including the Prime Minister of Australia and the President of Israel.
With 5780 just a few weeks away, we’re calling on kids across the country aged between five and 12 to put textas, crayons or pencils to paper, creating a design that captures the spirit of the chag.
“Last year’s winning submission by Danielle Goldman [pictured] was bright and cheerful,” said AJN national editor Zeddy Lawrence. “Every year we’re overwhelmed by both the quality and quantity of entries we receive from aspiring artists in the community.
“We’re really looking forward to seeing what they come up with this year.”
Entries should be submitted on an A4 sheet of paper, with the entrant’s name, age, school and contact details written on the back, to Rosh Hashanah Card Competition, PO Box 1000, Caulfield South, Vic 3162. The closing date for entries is Friday, September 6.
