The real Hamas: Hadar Goldin captured during ceasefire

World leaders call for return of captured IDF soldier Hadar Goldin.

US President Barack Obama called for an “unconditional” return of IDF soldier Hadar Goldin on Saturday morning (Australian time).

Goldin was taken when Hamas broke a humanitarian ceasefire on Friday night (Australian time).

“We have unequivocally condemned Hamas and the Palestinian factions that were responsible for killing two soldiers, and abducting a third, almost minutes after a ceasefire was announced,” Obama said.

“That soldier needs to be unconditionally released, as soon as possible.”

“I think its going to be very hard to put a cease-fire back together again if Israelis, and the international community, can’t feel confident that Hamas can follow through on a cease-fire agreement.

“No country can or would tolerate tunnels being dug under their land to conduct terror attacks.”

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with US Secretary of State John Kerry and told him that despite his joint statement with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, according to which assurances had been received from Hamas and the other terrorist organisations in the Gaza Strip regarding a ceasefire from 3pm Friday (Australian time), the Palestinians had unilaterally and grossly violated the humanitarian ceasefire and attacked Israeli soldiers at 4pm (Australian time).

As a result of this attack, two IDF soldiers were killed and another soldier is suspected to have been abducted; this was after the ceasefire had taken effect.

Prime Minister Netanyahu told US Secretary of State Kerry that Hamas and the other terrorist organisations in the Gaza Strip will bear the consequences of their actions and that Israel would take all necessary steps against those who call for our destruction and perpetrate terrorism against our citizens.
