AUSTRALIA’S Kate Miller-Heidke is through to the Eurovision grand final after wowing the crowd with her track Zero Gravity in Tel Aviv.
Miller-Heidke spoke to The AJN of her excitement at being in Israel for this week’s competition, describing her trip to the country as “fascinating, beautiful and sometimes challenging”.
Song contest fever is in full swing in Tel Aviv, as the Jewish State defies calls for boycotts and hosts 40 foreign delegations to compete in the contest.
She told The AJN she was inspired to enter Eurovision by last year’s Israeli winner.
“I would love to meet Netta,” Miller-Heidke said.
“She’s brilliant, Toy is exactly my kind of pop song. It was seeing her victory last year, with a song with a killer melody and a bunch of chicken noises, that let me know the time had come to throw in my hat for Eurovision.”
In the lead-up to the contest, artists have been busily exploring Israel’s sites and culinary scenes — and Miller-Heidke said that she has become hooked on hummus. “I have been eating hummus every day and I never want it to end,” she reported. “I am now approximately 65 per cent hummus.”
