Fabulous festival for all
TO mark its final and cumulative 75th anniversary celebration, Moriah College is hosting a fun-filled event boasting all the traditional trimmings of a family-friendly festival – rides, music and entertainment, engaging student performances, face-painting, delicious street food, street dancers, community and retail stalls, a raffle and more this Sunday.

Loren Kalish, who shares the presidency of Moriah College with Natalie Sassoon, commented, “We want people to walk in here and feel that they are receiving rather than giving.
“We’ve called this celebration Festival 75 because we are trying to cater to all age groups from pre-school, primary and high school students, while including the Grandparents Club, the Moriah Foundation, and anybody that is affiliated with Moriah and the wider community.”
Student talent will be on display with work by pre-school students inspired by the changing seasons adorning the walls of the Ralea Moss Assembly Hall, and masterly artworks by high school students will be proudly displayed in the high school.
Junior and senior school jazz bands will perform, while students from Moriah’s talent quest and dance productions are sure to impress.
In a letter to parents and friends of Moriah College, executive director of engagement Natalie Mina remarked, “This celebration of 75 years of Jewish education and our growth to become the largest Jewish day school in the southern hemisphere is Moriah College’s gift to its community, thanks to the support of a team of incredibly generous volunteers and donors.”
Popular band Sincopa will be making a special appearance.
“We are so fortunate to have a school like Moriah for our current students, our alumni and future students,” said Kalish.
“The main purpose is a feel-good one, for people to come and celebrate an amazing milestone for our school and our community.”
Rabbi Dr Aryeh Solomon of Kehillat Moriah will also begin the writing of Moriah College’s Torah scroll, which the school intends to have complete by its 80th anniversary.
The sole fundraising activity for the evening is a raffle offering more than $50,000 in prizes, including a Fiat 500 and seven nights in a South African game reserve, that will support Moriah College into its next 75 years of existence.
