MACCABI Victoria Tennis Club fielded three teams in the Moorabbin District junior Saturday morning winter competition grand finals last weekend, and one team in the Bayside Regional junior Sunday morning grand final.

Two of the Maccabi teams emerged with premier’s flags.

The Section 9 Sunday morning team of Danielle Nagar, Cody Brits, Bradley Bergman and Max Zhu prevailed in the decider against Royal South Yarra, winning 4 rubbers to 2.

Team manager Michelle Bergman congratulated all the Maccabi players for having “an amazing season of tennis”, and reserved particular praise for Brits, who won the award for best player of the final.

In Section 2, Maccabi’s team of Riley Brick, Raphael Schwalb, Ayden Carp, Brad Lowe and James Thurston won their decider 5-1; a fitting finale to their dominating season.

The Section 15 Maccabi boys, including Benji Basist, Lior Gavriel, Dean Cohenka, Riley Lipsitz and Ilan Elbohar, ended their first season of competition tennis as runners-up.

And in Section 13, Maccabi boys Ryan Zheng, Yotam Ishay, Jack Levin, Toby Smorgon, Joel Krongold and Josh Lindell were also runners-up in their debut season together.
