Harris sings the hits

CABARET.  Singer David Harris has starred in big-budget musicals ranging from Wicked and Legally Blonde to Fiddler on the Roof (playing Perchik), but on the eve of heading to New York he took to the intimate cabaret space of Chapel Off Chapel in Melbourne for his latest show, Time Is A Traveller.

Written, produced and directed by 38-year-old Harris, the show featured popular songs and plenty of entertaining anecdotes from his career.

Harris is a long-time fan of Peter Allen and features songs from the musical The Boy From Oz, highlighted by his beautiful singing of Time Is A Traveller where he was accompanied by David Cameron on guitar and piano.

There were excellent renditions of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables and Why God, Why? from Miss Saigon.

A special treat for the audience was his duets with singer Amanda Harrison, including a song from Wicked and the classic, You’re Just In Love.

The show gives Harris an opportunity to reminisce about his early days in Newcastle and the road to stardom, charming the audience with his fine voice and easy-going cabaret style.

Time Is A Traveller was at Chapel Off Chapel from August 6-8.
