AUSTRALIAN skier Anna Segal (pictured) has fallen agonisingly short of securing Australia’s first medal at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, falling eight points short of bronze medalist Canadian Kim Lamare in the final of the ladies’s ski slopestyle final.

Segal, 27, qualified seventh with a score of 78.80, before putting in solid first run of 77.00 in the final.

But a crash landing on the final jump in her second run cost Segal any chance of a spot on the podium. Segal’s fourth place was still Australia’s best finish in any event as The AJN
went to print.

“I’m so proud of how I went,” Segal said after the event.

“I never knew how hard the Olympics are. They are bloody draining, and I’m stoked with fourth.
