MORIAH and Masada Colleges have retained their positions atop the Jewish schools tree, coming in at 18th and 24th respectively in the state’s All Merit List.

The results also saw Emanuel School finish in 54th place in the state and Kesser Torah College maintain its position in the top 100, ranked 63rd.

Moriah College principal John Hamey said the achievements of its class of 2015 “affirms our student’s readiness to embrace the world that awaits them”.

“They have demonstrated academic excellence and the ‘stretch’ to engage in integrated thinking,” he said.

“They are articulate, confident communicators who care equally about the social benefits of innovation and work as they do about economic growth and development. May great and wonderful things await them.”

Masada College principal Wendy Barel, while praising the school’s top achievers, told The AJN, “It is the students who are not making headlines but have overcome incredible odds” that are the true success stories.

“We are very proud of all our year 12 class, not just for their HSC outcomes but for the dignified and united way they completed their schooling, and the leadership and citizenship they have displayed,” she said.

Emanuel School principal Anne Hastings “wholeheartedly” congratulated the students who had worked “so hard” to achieve their results.

“The students’ dedication and willingness to push themselves beyond their perceived limits are to be commended and I wish them all the very best for the future,” she said.

“I also express my gratitude to our talented and dedicated teachers who have supported our HSC students so comprehensively and effectively.”

A Kesser Torah spokesperson said: “Congratulations to the Class of 2015 on their HSC results. KTC are very proud of the way the students applied themselves to their studies in their final two years of high school.

“The results this year were very strong and reflected the efforts of both the students and the teachers.”

Outside of the Jewish schools, two Jewish students achieved dux of their respective schools – Natasha May at Sydney Girls’ High School and Daniel Rice at Sydney Grammar.

Four Jewish students also enjoyed a perfect Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 99.95.
