In September 1972, 11 members of the Israeli Olympic team were murdered by terrorists during the Olympic Games in Munich.

Despite repeated appeals for an official memorial to be held during the course of subsequent Games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has refused the requests. This year, as the world marks the 40th anniversary of the tragedy, pressure is mounting on the IOC to organise a minute’s silence during the London Games, but the committee is still reluctant.

To show that the Australian Jewish community has not forgotten the victims and stands with their families, The AJN is calling on all its readers to sign this letter and return it to us, so that we can forward it to Dr Jacques Rogge, president of the IOC.
