Josh Frydenberg had an amazing week with a birthday in the Lodge, a new cabinet appointment as the Minister for Environment and Energy, an opportunity to welcome American Vice-President Joe Biden to Australia, not to mention a portrait of himself being a finalist for the Archibald Prize.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull welcomed Frydenberg and fellow MPs to the Lodge on Sunday night when the Coalition gathered for the first time since the election victory.

Frydenberg, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop and Senator David Bushby, who all share the same birthday, celebrated the occasion and had a birthday cake with their colleagues.

But it was the new ministry role that Frydenberg was given on Monday that has him excited about the future.

“It is a big challenge dealing with the transition to renewables and at the same time keeping security of energy supply and prices down,” Frydenberg told The AJN.
