FIFTY Maccabi NSW netballers aged 10-12 were very lucky to have stars of the sport lead a recent skills training session especially for them earlier this month.

Suncorp Super Netball League player for the NSW Swifts Claire O’Brien – who is also an Australian junior squad member – spent plenty of time with the kids, organising drills, sharing tips and signing autographs on January 30 at the Waverley netball courts.

She was joined by Abbey McCullough who is a previous invitee to the Australian Diamonds national team, a former NSW Swifts captain and currently a NSW Waratahs player in the Australian Netball League.

Grace Hill, who currently plays for the Canberra Giants and won the 2018 ACT 19/u Coach’s Choice Award, also helped out.

The “train like a Swift” clinic focused on ballwork, agility and court craft, and was followed by a Q&A session with the special guests.

Although it is still technically Maccabi Netball’s offseason, many of the club’s members are currently playing in the Easts Summer Netball competition which concludes on February 23, or attending trials for Maccabi teams that will play in the winter competitions in Randwick and Northern Suburbs districts.
