The fifth season of Maccabi Social Mixed Netball got underway on March 20 on a high note, with more than 200 young adults and 22 teams doing battle in 11 games.

Last season’s champions the Ring Ins had a hard-fought 16-11 victory over Kathy’s Team, while the 2016 grand finalists Chicken Souperstars were too strong for Just Cuz, finishing 20-8 winners.

Even with five more teams participating than last year, four matches in round one were decided by just a single goal, demonstrating the quality of games has not diminished.

Some teams have played in the competition since it began with eight sides in 2015, but several have joined for the first time.

The players range from high school-leavers to married couples, and everyone in between.
