Josh had just recently celebrated his 32nd birthday. He was heavily involved in a range of community projects, and was a passionate “athlete, coach, artist, musician, actor, barista and lover of technology”, Access Inc. CEO Sharon Malecki shared with The AJN.
Describing Josh as “a man pursuing his life with gusto and working to turn challenges into opportunities”, Malecki explained that Access had been working with Josh to find him a job as a barista.
“[It was] a vocation he loved and excelled at” – to such an extent that it was Josh who donned the Access Coffee Cart apron and proudly made and served Prime Minister Scott Morrison a latte during his visit to Beth Weizmann Community Centre just weeks ago.
“The flood of messages and wishes coming in for Josh are testament to the many lives he has touched and the great loss his absence will bring,” said Malecki.
Josh was also a much-loved tenant of Jewish Care Victoria’s Manders Villas.
“He will be missed dearly by a great many here,” commented Jewish Care CEO Bill Appleby.
Maccabi Victoria All Abilities inclusion coordinator Shari Cohen said Josh was “a proud and integral part of the Maccabi family.
“We will greatly miss his love of sport, his sense of humour and his wonderful nature.”
An ardent Carlton Football Club supporter, Josh’s adoration for footy was taken to the next level when he joined coach Tony Fell in the role of assistant coach and goal umpire for AJAX U13 and U14s.
“Josh was both passionate and serious about our junior AJAX footy team, and he loved both training and match days,” said Fell, “He really could talk footy all day long!”
Josh’s father Daryl told The AJN, “Josh was a friend to all, touching the hearts of everyone he met.
“His warmth, sense of humour and gentle nature will be missed for all eternity.”
