One gateway for aged care

SIX aged care and healthcare organisations have come together for the first time to provide a single point of entry for the community.

SIX aged care and healthcare organisations have come together for the first time to provide a single point of entry for the community.

On Sunday, Gateway NSW, a website and hotline for Jewish aged care and health services, was launched by the Jewish Communal Appeal (JCA) in cooperation with the Wolper Hospital, the Montefiore Home, JewishCare, the Centre on Ageing Sydney, the Burger Centre and B’nai B’rith Retirement Villages.

“It has been an objective of the JCA planning committee to better represent the totality of our aged care offerings to those who need to access the services,” JCA vice-president Frank Wolf, who spearheaded the project, said.

“We felt that by having a gateway, or a single point of entry, that it would encourage people to use the services more effectively and also provide a clear path to the depth of services that we as a community support and offer.”

The service offers information for accommodation, community and social support, health, rehabilitation and respite, hospital, in-home care, positive ageing and professional guidance services.

Wolper president David Golovsky was overjoyed by the occasion.

“Over 18 months ago we started this process and we have achieved something that I think has never been achieved before,” Golovsky said.

“Just try and get two organisations to agree – we have seven!

“We are so proud that the website is live and you will now be able to navigate yourself through the website and get a guide to all of the services.”

Golovsky added that the website will be a great asset for the community. “We will be able to make proper provisions for the future needs of the community from the data that we collect together.

“This website, which went live on Friday afternoon, shows that we are able to cooperate together and that is good for everyone.”

To access the services go to www.gatewaynsw.com or call 1300 854 283.
