Pink criticised over Holocaust memorial photo

JEWISH pop singer Pink has defended uploading a photo to Instagram of her children running through the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin.

JEWISH pop singer Pink has defended uploading a photo to Instagram of her children running through the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin (above, left).

The photo shows her daughter Willow, 8, and son Jameson, 2, between the memorial’s pillars and is captioned “Berlin, I love you”.

But not all fans were happy with the post.

Some accused the singer of “disrespect”, writing that the memorial is not “a hide and seek place”. Others, however, sprang to her defence.

“I’m Jewish and my relatives died in the camps,” said Deb Johns. “It gives me joy to see children enjoying life and continuing on when so many died.”

Responding to the criticism, Pink noted that her children are “in actuality Jewish, as am I and the entirety of my mother’s family”.

“The very person who constructed this [memorial] believed in children being children, and to me this is a celebration of life after death. Please keep your hatred and judgment to yourselves,” she said.
