EXCITEMENT is building for the 2019 Maccabi Junior Carnival to be hosted by Sydney from January 15-22, with confirmation that 300 young Jewish athletes have already signed up to participate and represent their Maccabi state.

Organisers hope that by day one of the week-long sports and social event, 400-plus kids aged between 12 and 16 will be taking part, equalling or exceeding the participation level achieved the last time Sydney played host, back in January 2016.

NSW and Victoria are set to field the biggest teams, followed by Western Australia, then Queensland and, for the first time in many years, New Zealand will enter a small team.

The program includes competitive tournaments in netball, basketball, tennis, football, and the return of biathlon.

There will also be a bunch of fun, social sport sessions, opening and closing ceremonies, dance parties, laser tag, a pool party, a harbour cruise, an afternoon at the beach, and much more.

Registrations close at the end of November, so apply now to avoid disappointment.

Maccabi also has financial assistance available, in keeping with its objective that no Jewish child should miss out on participating in the unique experience of Maccabi Junior Carnival.
