Retreat heads north

THE call is out for dynamic entrepreneurs, professionals, volunteers, thinkers, activists and change-makers for the fourth annual LaunchPad retreat.
The initiative is a partnership between Australian Jewish Funders, the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, the ROI Community and JCA NSW. It aims to attract those who are passionate about re-imagining Jewish life and social change in Australia to connect, think, create and lead with like-minded people.
Following consecutive years on the Mornington Peninsula, the three-day retreat is heading north between April 29 and May 1 to the Southern Highlands of NSW.
“Having 50 motivated Jews in one room discussing their visions of the Jewish community is incredibly powerful and to be a part of it is a unique opportunity,” LaunchPad program manager Anthony Janovic told The AJN.
Jake Lew participated in the LaunchPad retreat last year. “Sometimes in life you need to step outside of your own little bubble and get comfortable being uncomfortable,” he reflected.
“I found LaunchPad to be a unique experience, allowing me to surround myself with like-minded people from my community in a positive and adventurous environment. It doesn’t matter what journey you’re on…”
The retreat encompasses masterclasses, mentors in residence and international guests who are leaders in the spheres of philanthropy, business and Jewish community knowledge. General manager of Uber Eats Australia and NZ Jodie Auster addressed attendees last year. Other speakers have included Elliott Costello (CEO of YGAP), Jan Owen (CEO of Foundation for Young Australians) and Holly Ransom (Co-chair of the 2014 Y20 Youth Summit).
LaunchPad retreat facilitator Brandon Srot shared his enthusiasm for the relocation of the retreat to NSW this year. “It’s a great opportunity for the Sydney Jewish community to join this wave of innovation and network of Jewish change-makers,” he said.
