Shir Madness music festival is back

THE Shir Madness Jewish music festival is back at Bondi Beach in March with a variety of performers playing music including klezmer, Chassidic, Israeli, jazz, cabaret, folk, blues, pop, rock, funk, reggae and rap.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural festival attended by more than 2000 people, this year’s event will be held on five stages at the Bondi Pavilion on Sunday, March 25, featuring more than 40 acts throughout the day and night.

Among the performers announced for this year’s festival include Melbourne’s gypsy pop group Barons of Tang, Australian pop-rock star Old Man River, famous New York a capella choir The Western Wind, the London Klezmer Quartet and Australian classical pianist Simon Tedeschi.

ARIA award-winning gypsy jazz performers Monsieur Camembert is among the groups returning from last year’s festival.

The Shir Madness festival includes dance, short films, visual arts, crafts and food stalls in a festival atmosphere.
