Snap and win great holiday prizes

WELCOME to our annual holiday photo competitions where we invite AJN readers to share their favourite holiday snapshots and be in the running for a great holiday prize.

This is the 10th year that we have been running the popular competition – the judges are looking for photos featuring members of the Australian Jewish community on holiday, whether in Australia or overseas.

To be eligible, holiday photos must have been taken between February 1, 2017 and the closing date of the competition, January 31, 2018.

Photos will be published in online galleries on jewishnews.net.au and we want to see members of the community on holiday, so don’t send in shots of deserted beaches! The only exception is photos taken at sunrise and sunset entered in our separate competition (see below).

The entry judged to be the best photo will win a two-night stay at The Reef House in Palm Cove, just 25 kilometres north of Cairns in tropical Queensland.

The Reef House is a boutique resort set in a colonial-style complex with 67 rooms and suites. It is situated on the beachfront in the heart of Palm Cove, which has a relaxing seaside village atmosphere.

The Reef House’s central feature is the large swimming pool, framed by shaded pathways and tropical gardens. There are two other pools spread around the gardens.

Enjoy meals and snacks beside the main pool or in the award-winning Reef House Restaurant overlooking the palm-fringed esplanade and white sandy beach, serving modern Australian cuisine.

The rooms and suites are spacious – some of the verandah rooms come with an oversized spa on the verandah, while some of the brigadier rooms include a hanging swing on the porch.

Guests can experience the charm of the colonial era with modern luxury and five-star service.

A tradition at The Reef House is late afternoon drinks at the Brigadiers bar, situated alongside the library. Each evening candles are lit around the resort as guests gather in the bar or restaurant.

Enjoy health and beauty treatments at the Day Spa featuring L’ltya products.

The Reef House is part of Accor’s M Gallery collection of prestige hotels.

Walk a few metres along the main esplanade to browse art and craft shops, boutiques and roadside cafes and restaurants.

Palm Cove is ideally located for exploring the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest, and is less than an hour’s drive from Port Douglas.

The winner of the holiday photo competition will receive a gift certificate for two nights’ accommodation in a verandah king room for two people, including continental breakfasts, which is valid until March 1, 2019 subject to availability and blackout periods. Airfares are not included in the prize.

Choose your favourite holiday photos taken since February – or while on holiday in coming weeks – and email them to [email protected]

There is a limit of three entries per person for this competition, which is not open to professional photographers.

Watch out for entries on jewishnews.net.au in coming weeks. The finalists will be announced in February.
