MACCABI’S Grade 1 tennis side has ended its four-week undefeated run, with a narrow loss to Grace Park on the weekend.

Maccabi now finds itself in third spot on the ladder after its second defeat of the year.

Paul Arber and Asaf Nagar came from a set behind to win their doubles rubber 2-6, 7-5, 6-0, but Goldberg brothers Luke and Simon couldn’t achieve the same success, losing 6-2, 6-4.

As the rain fell heavily in the afternoon, Arber and Nagar were denied a win, as their second match of the day was called off at 7-5, 2-2.

The Goldbergs were again no match for their opposition in the day’s final rubber, losing 6-1, 6-0.

Maccabi had a week to forget with only three of the 12 competing sides registering wins, including the Grade 8, Grade 10 and Women’s Team 2, while three others ended in draws due to the inclement weather.

Maccabi plays Hepner Place at 1pm on Saturday at Hepner Place Indoor Tennis Centre (Melway: 441 H9).
