TOV for Tov has launched its 2016 community raffle to raise vital funds for Jewish communities throughout NSW and Victoria.

There are 11 fantastic prizes worth a total of more than $65,000 on offer, including two Toyota cars, two travel packages, jewellery and cosmetics.

This is the highest prize value since the first annual Tov for Tov raffle was held in 2012.

The raffle runs for five weeks, with the grand prize draw taking place on June 26.

Tov for Tov campaign manager Rabbi Aycee Abrahams said, “It’s wonderful that so many Jewish organisations have taken this opportunity to raise funds for their specific causes, which will ultimately help strengthen the NSW and Victorian Jewish communities at large.”

The independent charity aids Australian Jewish community organisations to raise top-up funds to help facilitate extra services or facilities.

It aims to not only maximise support for worthy causes, but also give something back to its donors and supporters.

“Often, the greatest obstacles they [Jewish community organisations] face are of a financial nature – Tov for Tov has the expertise, systems and prizes to take the hassle out of fundraising,” Abrahams said.

“The Hebrew word ‘tov’ means ‘good’. Through giving, we can all bring goodness to the world in some way.”

Since it began, Tov for Tov has helped raise more than $750,000.

It was established in memory of Abe Krok, a successful philanthropist who supported many charities around the world.

This year it is expanding to include more community organisations supporting causes from enhancing community centres, mental health services and crisis intervention to provision of food and shelter to the needy, and job search support.

The Tov for Tov 2016 raffle campaign has attracted several new partner organisations, pushing the total to 17.
