ALMOST 12 months after stunning the world and winning silver at the London Olympics, kayaker Jessica Fox has again starred at the top level of competition, winning two gold medals and a silver at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup Series.

The 19-year-old kicked off her campaign in Cardiff, Wales, where she finished runner-up in the C1 event by two seconds. She could only manage fifth in the K1 final at the same event.

“Although I made a mistake at the end of the run, I was happy with my paddling,” Fox said on Facebook about her opening race.

The series then moved to Augsburg, Germany, where Fox went one better in the C1 event, finishing ahead of two Brits by more than two seconds to pick up the gold medal. Unfortunately, she failed to qualify for the K1 final.

“It wasn’t a pretty run, but got there in the end. It’s great to win a World Cup again,” Fox said.

The third and final event took place in the Spanish town of La Seu d’Urgell, which was where Fox previously won two medals at the Copa Pyrenees Cup.

It was there that she went back- to-back in the C1 event, winning by almost three seconds ahead of France’s Caroline Loir, before finishing a disappointing 10th in the K1 after six penalties.
