For the love of Yiddish

A CABARET show featuring a variety of Yiddish music will be held at the Kadimah, Elsternwick on February 15.

The show, Libe Brent — Love Burns, features a strong line-up including Freydi Mrocki, lead singer with Klezmania; Brett Kaye and Galit Taylor Klas, who will team up for the classic Fiddler on the Roof song, Do You Love Me?; the Mir Kumen On Choir performing Yiddish favourites; singer Karen Feldman; and lawyer and former Yidcore band-member Bram Presser interviewing comedian and broadcaster Libbi Gorr.

Organiser Renata Singer says last year’s Yiddish show, Lebediker Radio Show was a sell-out and expects strong demand for Libe Brent.

“We’re inviting all of Melbourne to join us for a night of songs and singing, drama and comedy, film and much more, all exploring the passion, laughter and pain that accompanies that four-letter word libe or, in English, love.”

Libe Brent – Love Burns is at the Kadimah Yiddish Cultural Centre, 7 Selwyn Street, Elsternwick on February 15 at 6pm. Bookings: Trybooking.com/godc.
