Four-year-old girl hurt in 2013 rock-throwing terror attack dies

Adele Biton, the four-year-old child who was critically wounded after Palestinians threw rocks at her family’s vehicle in 2003, died Tuesday at Schneider Children’s Hospital in Petah Tikva as a result of pneumonia.

The incident in which Adele was injured occurred on March 14, 2013, when rocks hurled at a car near Ariel in the West Bank caused it to swerve and smash into a truck, injuring seven Israelis, including the then-2-year-old girl. Biton’s two sisters and mother were moderately wounded in the attack.

Adele’s mother Adva said prior to her death Tuesday that she that there was no question that the severity of the pneumonia came as a direct result of the injury she received in the 2013 terror attack.

“There is no doubt that it stems from the neurological damage which she suffered, which makes dealing with all medical issues more difficult.”

“Every little thing puts her body into major stress,” she added.

Biton was hospitalized on Monday at Schneider Children’s Hospital when her conditioned worsened.

In April of 2013, five Palestinian rock-throwers were charged with throwing rocks onto the highway that caused the crash which injured Biton.

“Those involved in the attack, five youths aged 16 and 17 from the village of Haras, admitted during questioning by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) to their involvement in the attack,” the Shin Bet said upon arresting the suspects.

Economy Minister Naftali Bennett posted to his Facebook page on Tuesday a picture of himself during a visit to Adele and the Biton family.

“There are no words. Adele Biton, who was injured by rock throwing at the tender age of two, passed away today at the age of four. Any people whose heroes are the murderers of children will never have a state,” Bennett’s post read.
