Outstanding results for Jewish schools

Scopus, Bialik and Yeshivah finish in top-10 Victorian schools.

JEWISH schools have performed outstandingly well in this years Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) in Melbourne and Higher School Certificate (HSC) in Sydney.

Mount Scopus finished second in Victoria with 35.8 per cent of exams sat by students receiving marks of 40 or above, out of a possible score of 50.

Bialik, which topped the state last year, finished third and Yeshivah College in Melbourne finished eighth.

The King David School also performed well and jumped from 31st in 2016 to 21st this year while Leibler Yavneh College placed 26th on the list.

Beth Rivkah Ladies College finished in 39th spot and Yesodei HaTorah College rounds out the Jewish schools in 40th place.

In Sydney, Moriah College was placed 15th, which is a significant move up the list from 27th last year.

“I think the results are always a reflection of the cohort,” Moriah principal John Hamey told The AJN.

“It’s a reflection of the incredibly hard working cohort and the diligence and persistence they have shown in the pursuit of their goals and excellence.”

Masada College also shot up the list, from 74th last year to 49th this year, while the Emanuel School’s results were relatively consistent, dropping from 38th last year to 43rd this year.
