Save Adelaide graves
JEWISH graves in Adelaide that are about to expire could be reused unless family members or friends of the deceased contact the Centennial Park Jewish Cemetery.
Council of Orthodox Synagogues of Australia president Mark Cohen is calling on people to renew the leases on graves as a religious duty.
“We can only expect Centennial Park to support our preservation of Jewish graves if we make an effort to do so ourselves,” Cohen said.
“Burial leases are usually 50 years.
“When extended to 250 years they are now in perpetuity. One can renew leases for even five years at a time.”
